Day 5 of [community profile] processfest  ! Share your creative process.

Today's prompt: Collaborators

Tell us about your go-to creative buddies. You don't have to name names, but this is the place to talk about what your collaborator brings to your creative process, how the two-or-three-or-many of you work together, how you figured out how to work together, and why it works. None of us create entirely alone, so who gives you a hand when you stumble? Who helps you get unstuck? Who is that person who always understands what you were trying to do and helps you make it happen?

To participate, share your contribution in the prompt post for the day, and if you'd like, link back to this community in your own space.

Want some more ideas? Go back to Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, or Day 4. There's no time limit!

What you want to share doesn't fit the prompt? Don't worry, link to it anyway! All that matters in the end is that we keep talking about how we do what we do - and that we keep creating.

Writing-wise, I have a group of four-five people that I send bits of WIPs to. We aren't co-writers in the actual sense of the word, but their input has been invaluable in getting stories started and in shaping the plot and characterisation. I have another friend who is great at inspiring new stories- so much of what I write is her fault ;-)

In terms of podfic, it takes a lot for me to be able to trust people with my raw files. I've had the same beta, [personal profile] dodificus, for years. I've also co-created podfics as part of pod_together which was scary (making myself so vulnerable to the creative process with people) but also hugely rewarding. I got to be part of one of my favourite 'verses and work with amazing authors <33

I never had a regular co-conspirator, but the first time anything I wrote and finished broke 40,000 words was when I was co-writing with Jeminisoul. I've done it again since on my own, but I needed that to find out it was possible, and I'm still just so pleased.

Other collaborations I can remember:
- Chris colouring some of my art (because he thought it was so bad he wanted to see if it could be improved...)
- A couple of humorous round robins, including the fabled Bit of Earth Hilarious Story, to which I contributed a little. Those things were always funnier to the people writing them, than to any outsider.

I suppose challenges could sort of count as collaborations with the issuer, and goodness knows I've done countless of those. But mostly I am on my own.

Sometimes I wish I did have a collaborator, especially on original stuff. I'd like to know if what I was writing was any good, or at least could entertain one person who doesn't live inside my head - it would give me confidence.
